Warm and cold light: the effect of temperature color on your interior.
Nowadays, we use lighting to eliminate darkness; in fact, the design and appearance in an environment acquire more significant importance. The color temperature of the light
Light is made up of two elements: color temperature and color reproduction. Kelvin (K) measured the color temperature of light, or the correlated color temperature (CCT) was measured in Kelvin (K). The light temperature used in the home can range from 2,000K to approximately 6,500K. The higher the color temperature, the colder the light will be.
1,200 K means warm light, which corresponds to the temperature color. For 5,600 K, we suggest a cold morning. 5,600 K equals daylight. Warm light contains red and yellow accents, while cool white to bluish.
Light is also measured by color reproduction. This implies the precision we can perceive colors under a specific type of light, using a color rendering index (CRI-color rendering index). It is a scale from 1 to 100 Ra. 100 Ra corresponds to perfect light, in this case, daylight. 80 Ra is the norm for most environments, such as shops where colors must match the day, as in the case of paint or clothing shops, where there are 90 Ra.
Warm or cold light?
Is it better to use a warm light? Or do you prefer a cold morning? This depends on the purpose of the light. Usually at home, 2,700 K warm light is installed, with incandescent, halogen, or savings bulbs. The yellowish light creates a friendly and pleasant environment. Color instills tranquility.
However, this shade is not ideal if you are aiming for productivity. The warm light in the office is pleasant but introduces strong contrasts into the space. The eyes have to try enormously to adapt to this light, getting very tired. For this reason, in a work environment such as on a desk, office, or kitchen, it is preferable to have lighting with higher temperature colors (3,000 – 4,000 K) or cold white light (over 5,000 K).
